This is a Western Nilotic language also called Dholuo. It stems from the Nilo- Saharan Group of languages. It is spoken by over 4 million people in the western part of Kenya and Tanzania. The western Nilotic language has been influenced substantially by the Ugandan language Lango and it shares similar features with the eastern Nilotic languages. It is among the most important dialects in Kenya apart from Kikuyu and Luhya.
